The axe head is traditionally engraved with the department patch and name. The department name can also be engraved on the American Hickory axe handle or the space can be used for additional text of your choice. The axe handle text is hand painted in metallic gold to create bold text that is easy to read at a distance.Ā
The opposite side of the axe head is typically engraved in a "vertical" layout to accommodate various guard holding positions.Ā
